Wind Classification to AS 4055 Calculator

Installing a pre-fabricated pergola? a carport? or even a window?

Manufacturers of these structures doesn’t know your site-specific wind condition and there is no one-size-fit all solution!

For instance, you may be able to install a pre-fabricated shed in Sydney (Region A), however you may not be able to install the exact same structure in Brisbane (Region B) where the structure is required to be designed to withstand higher wind loads.

Manufacturers would generally require that you provide them with the site wind classification to ensure they provide you with a structure that is adequate and compliant for the applicable wind loads.

AS 4055 is used to determine the applicable site wind classification and is generally in the form of N1, N2, N3, N4… based on the region, topography, terrain category and shielding factors.

This calculator has been created as a guide only. You should always engage a competent Engineer to assist you with your site wind classification assessment to ensure that your structure can withstand required wind loads in accordance with the Building Code of Australia.
