Jimmy is a Chartered Professional Engineer and the founding Director of Excelo Consulting Engineers. Registered across three states: NSW (Design Practitioner DEP0001529, Principal Design Practitioner PDP0000525, Professional Engineer PRE0001088), Queensland (RPEQ) and Victoria (Professional Engineers Register).
Before founding Excelo, Jimmy served as Facade Engineer at CSR Building Products. His project experience includes the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital redevelopment, the White Fox global headquarters in Rosebery, and advisory engagements for Woolworths and Coles on retail and warehouse developments.
Jimmy's contribution to a project is practicality — solutions that are sensible, cost-effective and buildable on site. Without that lens, designers routinely add flashing, layers or waterproofing requirements that not only inflate cost, but can be detrimental to performance.
Every Excelo project is overseen by Jimmy. Class 2 work — the kind that carries a DBPA design declaration — is reviewed and signed by the same engineer who scoped it.
Real Practical Solutions — Buildability at the Top of Our Mind
Excelo Consulting Engineers exists to give developers what most engineers don't: buildable designs that move projects forward. Most of the facade, waterproofing and remedial specs we inherit are over-engineered — triple-layer membranes where a single bonded system works, sarking specified where the cavity already drains, conservative safety factors stacked on top of conservative safety factors until the cost has doubled and the buildability has halved.
We strip it back to what's actually required to perform — manufacturer-neutral waterproofing specs, right-sized structural members, calculations against actual project conditions, not worst-case-of-worst-case defaults. Decades of hands-on construction experience — we've installed membranes, framed walls and superintended remedial sites — means when we draw a detail, a builder can build it. But the line is firm: if a flashing is missing, it gets added. We don't trade performance for cost.

The new global headquarters for White Fox — one of Australia's fastest-growing fashion brands. The centrepiece of the build is a huge feature skylight retrofitted into the existing roof — we designed both the steel arch structure that carries it and the laminated glass skylight itself, opening up the atrium with daylight while integrating seamlessly into the heritage commercial shell. Facade and structural scope; first-submission certifier sign-off; no engineering-driven variations during construction.
